The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance has announced Joseph Laurino as the chairman of the board for 2024. Laurino is president and CEO of Periodic Products, Inc., a material science technology company based in Sarasota, Florida. Laurino has held several volunteer leadership roles for the association, including chair of the Recreational Water & Air Quality Committee and chair of the Technical Advisory Council. He also helped develop the Greg Garrett Scholarship Award to aid PHTA members in pursuing continuing education and certification. Under Laurino’s leadership, Periodic Products has been involved in fundraising for Step Into Swim, PHTA’s drowning prevention initiative. The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is issuing a call for participation on the standards consensus committee, PHTA’s official consensus voting body. The committee is responsible for reviewing and voting on all pool, spa and hot tub standards to be approved by the American National Standards Institute. Committee members are classified into one of four interest categories: producer, user-government, user-consumer or general interest. Participants in PHTA’s standards development process include subject matter experts, such as public health officials, architects, engineers, code officials, consultants, product manufacturers, representatives from other organizations and individuals with expertise or interest in advancing the pool and hot tub industry.
