The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is beginning its 41st year as an American National Standards Institute Standards Developing Organization by announcing applications for the PHTA glossary committee are now open. The purpose of the PHTA glossary committee will be to help harmonize the definitions of terms in all PHTA standards and publications. Committee members will work with a variety of authoritative external organizations, standards and publications, and the initial effort is planned to be completed in early 2025. See also Once formed, the committee will meet every two weeks to review an existing collection of terms, associate them with existing concepts and review new terms and definitions uncovered by research. Subject matter experts who would like to serve on the committee must be willing and able to participate in the glossary creation process and have a working understanding of the aquatics industry. Anyone not part of the committee is still welcome to attend and observe meetings. Completed application forms are due to PHTA by March 8, 2024. For more information, visit phta.org/standards, or email PHTA director of codes and external standards Gregory Ceton at gceton@phta.org.
The International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, co-located with Deck Expo, celebrated its charitable contributions during the last show’s edition. Recognizing the importance of water safety, the event donated $25,000 toward Step Into Swim, a nonprofit initiative of the PHTA dedicated to creating more swimmers through safe swim education. “We want to ensure that every poolside memory is a happy one — one that is enjoyed with confidence and awareness,” says Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines, PHTA vice president of partnerships and development, who leads the Step Into Swim initiative. “By teaming up with Step Into Swim, PSP/Deck Expo showcases its dedication to both innovation and responsibility.” PSP/Deck Expo 2024 will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, Nov. 9-14, 2024.
FROG @ease Sanitizing System for Swim Spas is now on shelves and available to customers.  It is purpose-built for the volume and temperatures unique to swim spas and kills bacteria two ways — with FROG Sanitizing Minerals and SmartChlor, a unique, patented type of chlorine that releases slowly and maintains a continuous low chlorine level at all times. “FROG @ease uses much less chlorine,” says Alex Granlund, product marketing manager for King Technology, makers of FROG products. “Cartridges are prefilled so there’s no measuring. The system floats, keeping swim spa water clean, clear and ready to use and flips upside down when the SmartChlor cartridge needs to be replaced.” See also With the system, owners shock their swim spa only once a month using FROG Maintain for Swim Spas, a single-dose nonchlorine shock designed specifically for swim spas.
